When will the Earth try to kill us again?

Our planet Earth has extinguished large portions of its inhabitants several times since the dawn of animals. And if science tells us anything, it will surely try to kill us all again. Working in the 19th century, paleontology pioneer Georges Cuvier saw dramatic turnovers of life in the fossil record and likened them to the French Revolution, then still fresh in his memory.
Today, we refer to such events as “mass extinctions,” incidents in which many species of animals and plants died out in a geological instant. They are so profound and have such global reach that geological time itself is sliced up into periods—Permian, Triassic, Cretaceous—that are often defined by these mass extinctions.
Debate over what caused these factory resets of life has raged ever since Cuvier’s time. He considered them to be caused by environmental catastrophes that rearranged the oceans and continents. Since then, a host of explanations have been proposed, including diseases, galactic gamma rays, dark matter, and even methane from microbes. But since the 1970s, most scientists have considered the likely root cause to be either asteroid impacts, massive volcanic eruptions, or a combination of both.

1859 solar superstorm

On Sept. 2, 1859, an incredible storm of charged particles sent by the sun slammed into Earth's atmosphere, overpowered it, and caused havoc on the ground. Telegraph wires, the high-tech stuff of the time, suddenly shorted out in the United States and Europe, igniting widespread fires. Colorful aurora, normally visible only in polar regions, were seen as far south as Cuba and Hawaii.
Earth's magnetic field normally protects the surface of the planet from some storms. In 1859, the planet's defenses were totally overwhelmed. Over the past decade, similar but less powerful storms have likewise busted through, giving scientists insight into what will eventually happen again.
The outlook is not rosy.

A growing number of people today are hearing about the Mayan 2012 End Time Prophecy, but are unclear exactly what that means. Prophets of Doom have come and gone throughout the ages, as well as, the end times they predicted. The Mayan prophecy was calculated in mathematics not simply spiritism.

Prior to the last century little was known of the Mayan. The mysteries of a great civilization that reached its peak over one thousand years ago have only been understood in modern times. The greatest mystery was the Long Count calendar. The long count of its last great cycle began on August 13, 3114 B.C. and will end on the winter solstice of 2012. Historians now know that the Mayan were brilliant mathematicians who made incredibly accurate astronomical measurements, even being able to predict eclipses, and the movement of planets.

Could they have known that these natural cycles would end based on their measurements? Could the long count calendar have predicted that the modern world would be facing apocalypse or an eternal return and restoration of the spirit path of man away from the modern trappings of life?

The Mayan seemed to be driven to understand their place in the universe in a way that transcended faith. They recorded everything into mathematical symbols. Their priests were astronomers who traced the movements of Venus, Mars, the moon and even the Milky Way itself. They also chronicled important events in their people’s lives such as berths, deaths, tragic events and so on.

The Long Count calendar was created to make sense of all this. The calendar could show them when certain eras began and ended and place the real time events of Earth and the heavens into a form of absolute time. They could then conclude when certain gods had the most influence over them.

The planets to the Maya were the living Gods themselves. These were the very forces that decided the fate of man and it was their movements where their intentions could be discerned. This tracking of the planets allowed making highly sophisticated and complex predictions of future events.

The long count calendar will end on December 21, 2012. That is the end of the Fifth Age, the culmination of all cycles, and the date when the gods would harvest humanity.

Apparently the Maya met with a swift and sudden decline. It happened so fast they could not even record their own demise. Archeologists today are still baffled. Their great cities seemed to have been suddenly abandoned with no record left behind as to why. Where they the victims of disease, drought or famine? All we know is their world was swallowed by the thick jungle and hidden for thousand years before modern man found the vast cities they left behind.

Rainwater Across America Contaminated With Radiation Linked To Japan

Low levels of radioactive iodine have been detected in Florida believed to be from the Japanese Fukushfima power plant. It is currently raining in Florida (where I live) and this news is unsettling.

There is no threat at this time to public safety said Progress Energy spokesman Drew Elliot. Monitors at the Crystal River plant have detected the Iodine - 131. Scientist said there would be other types of radiation then just Iodine if the nuclear plant in Florida was leaking.

Other nuclear stations throughout the East Coast have started detecting the low level radiation as well. The Safety and environmental agency says it poses no threat.

The air and water is my main concern. How long does radiation hang around?
Trace amounts of radiation are being detected in California, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and the Carolina's.

If this gets worse, I really don't know what you can do to protect yourself. In Japan they say to stay indoors. Does that mean without air conditioning? What about the water? No need to panic yet, but just stay on the alert... Article compiled from DailyMail.UK

Bahamas "Blue Holes" Near Florida

There is a mystery in the Bahamas that scientist are just now beginning to understand - the Blue Hole Phenomena. They are circular holes in the water near shoreline that are a very dark blue and seem to plunge endlessly into the abyss. Scientist have wondered what they contain for decades. Fossils of unknown animals? Evidence of Atlantis? Researchers will reveal what they found in next months National Geographic magazine.

In a submerged cave off of Andros Island the cave divers have found amazing things.

• Specialized "chemosynthetic" bacteria that live without oxygen and feast on chemical reactions possible only in the caves.
• Stalactite curtains, or "speleothems," that contain a record of past sea level and climate conditions locked in their structures
• Fossils of Lucayan tribe members who lived on the islands until the 1500s.

Coastal regions of Florida throughout the Gulf Of Mexico region have similar limestone formations that contain vast amounts of fresh water that make important for the survival of increasing populations.

The Great Tunguska Explosion

On June 30, 1908 something exploded over Siberia with a force never before seen on earth, and perhaps, not since. Witnesses to the event said they say a pinpoint of light in the night sky get larger over a ten minute period before it exploded with such force a train conductor thought his train had been derailed from 800 miles away from the center of the explosion! The closest village of Nizhne-Karelinsk had roof damage on many homes and it was 200 miles away.

Whatever had exploded over Siberia had a shock wave that traversed the world twice. The weather on planet Earth was affected for the next year and Earth inhabitants were treated to glorious light shows at night. It was reported that you could even read the London Times at midnight without a lamp. Not since Krakatoa had the world seen anything such as this.

What is not commonly known, is that people of the world really did not know what the cause of this was. Russia was a very closed society and news of this explosion was not leaking out. It was not until the revolution that the full details emerged. In 1921 Russian scientist were doing work on meteorites and discovered the documents that they did not even know existed.

The photo on this post shows that the trees all fell in the same direction indicating a massive explosion. Many have speculated that this was an atomic bomb or a UFO and such.

MY TAKE: It could not have been a comet. They move way to slow. A meteor is more likely or a runaway asteroid. Events in the twentieth century have witnessed the impact on Jupiter of very large space debris proving that Earth could be vulnerable to such a thing.

No UFOs or secret atomic bombs would be needed. Our existence is very precarious.
